Former gang leader Sicarius McGrath, who had been imprisoned for setting up an illicit firearms workshop, has revealed startling plans he once harboured to commit a terror attack after his incarceration.
Labelled a "monumental risk to the public" before turning over a new leaf, McGrath was embroiled in gangland skirmishes from the mid-1990s till 2016.
It was during his stint at HMP Forest Bank in 2007 that McGrath, now 43, embraced Islam and pledged allegiance to a group named after the infamous militant organisation Al-Qaeda.
Discussing his past on the Daily Express's On The Edge podcast, the former gangster detailed how he was radicalised following encounters with extremist cleric Abu Qatada and segregation within prison walls, leading him to contemplate a post-release terror attack.
