A dazzling display of colour transformed the night sky as the Northern Lights shone above the North West - while another phenomenon was also visible.
Conditions were perfect for aurora to be visible for many people last night (August 12), including in Greater Manchester. Images shared of skies from across the region show stunning colour above.
But stargazers were also treated to another sight at the same time - the Perseid meteors. The Perseid annual shower peaked last night, meaning 'shooting stars' could be seen rushing through the glorious sky.
