Sigourney Weaver Makes Rare Appearance with Child Shar Simpson While Being Honored at Venice Film Festival

The 74-year-old actress was honored with the Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement during the festival’s opening ceremony on Wednesday (August 28) in Venice, Italy. Sigourney was joined at the event by her child Shar Simpson and their partner Nemo Allen. Shar, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, works as as an adjunct assistant professor at the Digital Storytelling Lab at Columbia University School of the Arts, according to Pink News. Shar is Sigourney‘s child with husband Jim Simpson.
During her acceptance speech, Sigourney joked that the award will now be traveling with her forever, saying it will be “sitting next to me on the plane, it will be next to be in the gondola and my husband will have to get used to having it in bed with us.” FYI: Sigourney is wearing a Chanel dress.
