North Lanarkshire Council to launch school holidays consultation

Pupils and teachers in North Lanarkshire are to be asked for their views on reconfiguring school holidays – including a suggestion of shortening the summer break in order to have a fortnight off in October and a longer February half-term.Councillors unanimously agreed at their last meeting to launch a consultation with youngsters, families, staff and unions to seek “opinions on the current holiday cycles”.It will include asking about “the possibility of reducing the summer break and increasing the October break to two weeks, the February break to one week and/or an extension to the Christmas break, as well as any other proposals”; and is due to report back by June.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
