Scotland's participation at Euro 2024 looks set to scupper Cumbernauld Colts' plans to host their annual NL Cup pre-season tournament next month. The Lowland League side had announced on April 18 that they would be welcoming Lanarkshire rivals Airdrieonians, Motherwell and Hamilton Accies to Broadwood over the weekend of June 29 and 30 to contest the NL Cup.

However, North Lanarkshire Council, who own Colts' ground at Broadwood Stadium, are hosting Euro 2024 fan zones on the pitch when the national side are in action in Germany this summer, with the tournament opener against the hosts already a 4,000-ticket sellout.

Steve Clarke's men will play Germany on June 14, followed by games against Switzerland on June 19 and Hungary on June 23.If Scotland manage to qualify from the group stages, their last 16 tie would fall on the weekend the NL Cup is due to take place and it looks like an early call will be made to leave the venue free, just in case Scotland make history by getting out of the group stages for the first time at a major tournament.Cumbernauld Colts boss David Proctor said: "It has not been confirmed yet, but I think there are going to be issues with the NL Cup.

North Lanarkshire Council are using the stadium for a fan zone for the Scotland games so we are looking to see if we can replace the games."It is usually a nice financial occasion for the club to host that cup, so that is going to be a massive blow.
