Nintendo has confirmed that the long-awaited Switch 2 will be released this June.The successor to the original Switch was confirmed earlier this year and today (April 2) Nintendo hosted a special hour-long Direct presentation to reveal more details about the Switch 2.
As part of the reveal, it was announced the Switch 2 release date June 5, 2025.The redesigned console is bigger and more powerful than the original Switch, and also boasts 8 times as much internal storage.
The magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers have also been upgraded.A new Mario Kart game World will be one of several launch titles for the console, with up to 24 different characters going head-to-head in a variety of racemodes.
A special Mario Kart direct is planned for later this month (April 17) to reveal more details about the game, but developers have already confirmed an open-world mode will allow players to explore the various levels at their own pace.A special Nintendo Switch 2 tour game will also be available on launch day, giving players a guided introduction to the many new features of the console.
