George Foulkes wants Ofcom to intervene at BBC Scotland to make changes to the format of the First Minister's broadcasts, which are shown live several times a week.
The former MP said updates on the latest Covid statistics should be presented by public health officials and not politicians.
Foulkes said if the briefings continued in their present format in the months before next year's Holyrood elections it would represent an “outrageous breach of the impartiality rules which Ofcom has a responsibility to uphold”.
