Nicola Sturgeon and Rishi Sunak meet for the first time since he became Prime Minister
dailyrecord.co.ukRishi Sunak has met Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for their first face-to-face summit since becoming Prime Minister.The meeting, during the British-Irish Council summit taking place in Blackpool, was also attended by Wales’s First Minister Mark Drakeford and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, appearing via video link.Michael Gove, Minister for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, was also present.The meeting will likely be seen as an attempt by the UK Government to show they want constructive relations with Sturgeon.Sunak’s predecessor Liz Truss, who was only in the job for days before being bundled out of office, famously did not call Sturgeon after becoming PM.She had previously said the First Minister should be “ignored”.This is a breaking news story - more to follow.
