Nicholas Alexander Chavez had his big break while playing Spencer Cassadine on the ABC soap opera series General Hospital and he’s opening up about the audition that led to the gig.
The 25-year-old actor, who just played Lyle Menendez in the Netflix show Monsters, says that he was “selling cars and life insurance” in Florida during the pandemic when he got the audition. And I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to really try to get this,’” he told People. Nicholas made a self-tape that led to his first “professional callback” in Los Angeles. “I get there, and I’m staying at the hotel, I’m trying to get all of my lines down, and then the day comes.
And I’m standing in a room with 20 of the most handsome guys that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. And I’m like, ‘Jeez,’” he said. “I go back into the room and I’m just trying to center myself.
