NHS Ayrshire & Arran cancels all outpatient appointments for hospitals on Monday after major power cut

Outpatient hospital appointments are to be cancelled across NHS Ayrshire & Arran tomorrow following a huge power outage.It follows a major incident being declared at Crosshouse Hospital in the early hours of this morning, when the power went down and affected services at nearby health units.Power has now been resorted at the site but NHS chiefs confirmed tonight that "patient administrative systems" remain under severe strain.They said a number of outpatient clinics for acute services will be scrapped tomorrow (Monday) at Ayr and Crosshouse, East Ayrshire Community Hospital, Ayrshire Central Hospital and MSK appointments at Biggart Hospital.Dr Crawford McGuffie, Medical Director, said: “This has been an unavoidable decision and we understand that this will have an impact on a number of people who access our services.
