Newcastle were subjected to a highly convincing 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday as the Sky Blues dumped the Toon out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage.It was an onslaught from City in the first half - but it was an onslaught the hosts were weathering, until Fabian Schar gave away a silly penalty for pushing Gabriel Jesus in the back around 10 minutes before half time.Kevin de Bruyne tucked away the subsequent spot kick with ease, causing the hosts to up the ante.Despite being behind, the second half continued in rather the same vein for Newcastle, as Raheem Sterling doubled City’s lead after 68 minutes, just after Dwight Gayle had missed the Toon’s best chance of the game.Newcastle never really looked like they would get back.
