The value of a footballer is subjective. Pep Guardiola may think that Rodri is priceless yet you will still get people who think you should pay soldiers more, never mind actual footballers.
However important Rodri may be to Manchester City, that still isn't enough to command the money of an Erling Haaland or Kevin De Bruyne.
The January transfer market is once again full of situations where the buying club has a different value of a player to a selling club, and Kalvin Phillips is one of the most interesting examples.
