New Perth Panthers Floorball Club limbering up for Scottish league debut

Momentum is continuing to build as a new floorball club from the Fair City prepares to take its next big step.Perth Panthers Floorball Club has been bolstering its squad across the past few months and is set to join the Scottish league later this year.Growing numbers at training sessions and friendly matches have added to the feel-good factor with excitement now at fever pitch for the beginning of a special chapter.The Panthers will become the second local team to play in the Scottish Floorball League, following on from the Perth Parrots.Club president Nick Elder told the PA: “A quarter or so of the team had played for the Perth Parrots, who had upwards of 30 players.“That gave us an idea that there was the scope for another team.

We started this to provide an extra competitive edge for floorball.“And we now have a squad of 20 to 25 players and have been training since January.

We’re looking forward to joining the Scottish league in October time.”Nick praised the dedication of the group, some who had never heard of or played the sport of floorball before.Floorball is a fun, safe and fast-paced form of floor hockey.

It is played indoors on a gym floor with specialised lightweight sticks and a team of five and goalkeeper.“Fair play to everybody because they have been really committed,” Nick added.“We have guys who have played field hockey before and guys who have played ice hockey before.
