If approved, the foodstore would be located at the Charlestown roundabout between Cromwell Road and Littleton Road on the former Manchester Racecourse.
The site, which was student accommodation for the University of Salford until 2015, is currently being turned into a new housing estate of up to 500 homes.
Plans for the next phase of 106 houses, a mixture of two and three bedroom mews, semi-detached and detached properties, have now been submitted.
