New HDR by Barco Theater Locations Debut With ‘Novocaine’; Upcoming Titles Include ‘Minecraft,’ ‘Warfare’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Carolyn Giardina The first permanent theater auditoriums to feature Barco‘s new premium HDR laser projectors – Cinepolis Pico Rivera in Los Angeles County and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema New Mission in San Francisco – have debuted with the release of Paramount’s “Novocaine.” The Pico Rivera site is also the first Cinepolis MACRO XE premium auditorium in the U.S.

As Barco rolls out it new projectors, upcoming films mastered for the system will include David Ayer-helmed thriller “A Working Man” for Amazon MGM Studios (March 28); game-to-film adaptation “A Minecraft Movie” from Legendary, Warner Bros.

and Microsoft (April 4); “Warfare” written and directed by Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza and “Civil War” helmer Alex Garland for A24 (April 11); and Ben Affleck-starring thriller “The Accountant 2” for Amazon MGM (April 25). “Novocaine” is additionally playing in HDR at a trio of locations that participated in the HDR by Barco pilot program last fall.

They are B&B Theatres Red Oak 12 in Dallas; Regal Dania Pointe, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale; and Regal Times Square in New York.
