The first performance of the new Broadway musical Buena Vista Social Club is happening TONIGHT and the first photos from the show have arrived.

Inspired by true events, the new musical brings the Grammy-winning album to “thrilling life—and tells the story of the legends who lived it.

A world-class Afro-Cuban band is joined by a sensational cast in this unforgettable tale of survival, second chances, and the extraordinary power of music.” Natalie Venetia Belcon, who played Gary Coleman in the original cast of Avenue Q, leads the cast of the new musical and won a Lucille Lortel Award for her performance in the Off-Broadway production last year. Buena Vista Social Club is a real-life ensemble of Cuban musicians who released their self-titled album in September 1997 and went on to sell over 8 million copies worldwide.

The album was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the US National Recording Registry and holds the Guinness World Record for best-selling album of world music.
