New boss Ian McCall gives Clyde stars a clean slate as he bids to transform Leage Two club

Ian McCall admits he couldn't have taken on a harder challenge than Clyde, but says everybody at the club has until January to impress him.Experienced boss McCall has taken the reins at the Bully Wee and will be tasked with avoiding the pyramid play-off that awaits the side at the bottom of League Two, and which last season saw Albion Rovers drop into the Lowland League.McCall will again be joined by long-term assistant Neil Scally, as they take charge in a New Douglas Park clash against East Fife on Saturday, where a win would see them draw level on 10 points with their visitors.The 59-year-old takes over from Brian McLean, who was appointed in the summer but failed to win any of his nine games in charge, and was sacked last month.McCall says it will take time to assess his squad, but everybody at the club is starting from scratch.He said: “It doesn’t matter what has happened before I was here, it’s a clean page for everybody, and hopefully they will grasp their opportunity.“I think looking at the squad is going to be done right up until January 1, so six weeks, and it’s a fresh chance for everybody.“That’s not just manager-speak, I absolutely mean that.“What has happened before doesn’t matter, it’s what happens now, so we’ll have a look at them and see what we need to do.”With Clyde locked on seven points, two adrift of second-bottom Elgin City, and having played a game more, McCall is under no illusions on how big a task he has on his hands.But the former Dundee United, Falkirk and Airdrie boss has plenty of experience, and had Partick Thistle in a Championship play-off position in February, before he was surprisingly fired.He said: “I couldn’t have taken on a harder challenge.“I remember Clyde when I was coming
