Manchester could soon be getting a new student accommodation block with more than 860 beds, social spaces and a gym. Developers Vita Group want to build a part 33-storey and part 12-storey tower on a vacant plot at the corner of Hulme Street and Medlock Street.
Designs submitted to Manchester City Council show the new building would feature 861 rooms if approved, comprising four different sizes.
Initial plans submitted by the developer featured 750 rooms, but an updated version shows an additional 119 beds. The studio-style spaces would each include a kitchenette with fridge, hob and a microwave oven, an en-suite bathroom and a study desk.
Larger rooms would additionally feature washer/dryers and a living room space with a sofa. Tim Groom Architects also included a number of social spaces, group study rooms and three gyms in their designs.
