Netflix fans were treated to some good news today - swiftly followed by some bad news that left some viewers seriously unhappy. The US streaming giant revealed that the second series of Squid Game - a follow-up to the smash hit drama that captivated its fans back in 2021 - would be hitting screens later this year.
However, it also let slip that a "final season" would be coming next year, meaning the broadcaster is slamming the door on its most popular ever show after its 2025 outing.

Another agreed: "‘Anyone else find it weird that this is their most watched show ever and they’re only making three seasons out of it?" Squid Game, which was created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, features a group of hard-up contestants who are trapped in a sinister game that pits them against one another as they fight to the death for a huge sum of money.
It ranks as the most-watched TV series in Netflix history - beating Stranger Things and Wednesday - and shot to No1 in 94 countries, including the UK, when it was released.
