Mo’Nique‘s long-running issue with Netflix has officially been settled. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedienne and the streaming giant have reached a settlement agreement over her lawsuit alleging discrimination on the basis of race and gender.
The terms of the deal were reportedly not disclosed. However, each party mutually agreed that the suit would be dismissed. Mo’Nique initially clashed with Netflix in 2017, citing a “lowball” offer of $500k she received from the platform in proposed compensation for an original one-hour comedy special.
In the proposed agreement, Netflix would own the copyright to the special, the material performed therein, and all audio rights.
Mo’Nique called out Netflix’s offer as “discriminatory” against her as a Black woman, causing the streamer to shut down negotiations.
