Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Neil Lennon admitted he was surprised with his side's positive performance against Nice in their first game in 131 days. The Hoops trailed after a superb solo effort from Nice frontman Kasper Dolberg.

But substitute striker Patryk Klimala capitalised on a goalkeeping error to level in the second half. And the gaffer was pleased with his players' application in the Veolia Trophy opener as they now look to Lyon on Saturday.

Although he was less impressed with the VAR call that ruled out an early opener from Odsonne Edouard. Lennon said: "I'm delighted with all the players, I thought first-half we were outstanding at times."Considering we hadn't played for almost five months, technically, physically, tactically the players were really on.
