Neil Cavuto is leaving Fox News. The 66-year-old business journalist and Your World with Neil Cavuto host, who has been with the network since its launch in 1996, is leaving after Thursday’s show (December 19), the network confirmed, via AP News. “Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with Fox News Media,” the network said in a statement. “His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry.
We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.” Keep reading to find out more… At the same time, President-elect Donald Trump said the anchor’s departure is “GOOD NEWS FOR AMERICA” and “should have happened a long time ago.” While Trump was evidently not a fan of Neil, who has not interviewed the President-elect since 2017, that did not have anything to do with his departure, a source at the network with knowledge of the discussions told AP.
According to their report, his contract was coming to an end and while he was offered an extension, he decided to leave. Mediaite reports: “A beloved presence at Fox, his exit is not the consequence of any bad blood, but rather an increasingly common industry reality: Cavuto was offered a new contract, which he declined to accept his new deal.
Fox wanted him to stay on board, but a source explained that he ultimately decided to leave.” It is not yet known who will replace him in the 4 p.m.
