Proposals for a new café and takeaway that a neighbour complained would leave surrounding residents ‘prisoners in their own homes’ have been approved.
An application to convert a shop unit on Broadway in Chadderton was discussed by Oldham council’s planning committee after being called in by ward councillor Graham Shuttleworth.
There had also been eight letters of objection, raising concerns about parking, issues with noise, odour and vermin, as well as three letters of support stating it was an appropriate location for a new business.
The unit is next to the existing Subway store, at the junction of Long Lane, and was used most recently as a Vape retailer. It had been recommended for approval by planning officers but faced opposition from a resident and the local councillor.
