Name of new two acre rooftop park in Stockport confirmed
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA new rooftop park in Stockport - said by the council to be the first of its kind in the country - has been officially named.
It's been called Viaduct Park - in a nod to the town's looming old viaduct - and will open to the public on Monday March 18 to coincide with the opening of the new £135m transport interchange.
The park sits on the roof of the interchange. Announcing the new name today, council bosses hailed 'a monumental day for Stockport' and said the park and interchange were 'the heartbeat of Stockport’s transformation'. The name was chosen following a public vote held over the 2023 Christmas and New year period, which saw thousands of votes cast.
