Name chosen for Lanarkshire's newest school following poll of pupils and staff

A name has been chosen for Lanarkshire’s newest primary school, which is due to open next summer.The amalgamated school in Coatbridge, being created through the merger of Carnbroe and Sikeside, is to be called Riverbank Primary after the suggestion topped a vote among the school community.Construction started in January on its £25 million building at the former Calder community centre site on Paddock Road in the town, beside the North Calder Water.

Councillors will be asked to give official approval to the Riverbank name at the full meeting of North Lanarkshire members next Thursday, June 9.
