Murder investigation launched after Christmas Day death in Staffordshire

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in the early hours of Christmas Day. Police were called to Elm Road, Norton Canes, near Cannock in Staffordshire, shortly before 3.30am on December 25.

The man, who was in his 30s, was found in cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The woman, who is 33 and from Cannock, remains in police custody. The man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "A scene remains at the address whilst the investigation continues and is expected to remain for a number of days.
