A devastated mum is suing a gym after her teenage son died crushed under a 98kg bar weight while working out. Ben Shaw, 15, was training alone at the Pine Rivers PCYC gym in Brisbane, Australia, when the weight fell on his throat.

He allegedly suffered serious injuries in the accident which took place in September 2017. The teenager was reportedly trapped under the equipment for up to 30 minutes and was later rushed to hospital.

He died in hospital three days later when his family decided to turn off his life support. Ben's mum Dalya is now suing against the Queensland PCYC, hoping the incident will never be repeated, the Daily Mail reports.
