Mum of two, 29, jailed for nearly two years after 'monumental error of judgement' at Manchester airport

Alisha Tworuschka and Jacqueline Desorcy jetted off for what they thought was a free holiday but are now behind bars. Alisha , a mother-of-two, and Jacqueline ended up in Manchester after flying from their Canadian homes.The duo were caught with suitcases packed with over 70 kilos of cannabis.

Upon arrival in Manchester, 'naive' Alisha left the drug-laden bags with her friend Jacqueline while she passed through customs.

However, she came back to collect them after hearing an announcement on the PA system at the terminal. Alisha's lawyer said: "Perhaps some people would be out of the building very quickly, but she wasn't." Both women, aged 29, have been sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison.

Manchester Crown Court was told that the pair arrived on May 10 and were immediately noticed by Border Force officers.They found four large suitcases filled with 72 kilos of cannabis, reports the Manchester Evening News.
