Stephen O’Donnell admits Motherwell have a point to prove after a horror run in the Premiership, and need to impress new boss Michael Wimmer.Motherwell are on a run of five straight defeats stretching back to a 3-1 loss at Hibs on January 11, and include a Scottish Cup exit at St Johnstone.Boss Stuart Kettlewell stepped down amid that run, saying fan abuse was affecting his family, and the club on Monday brought in Michael Wimmer as his replacement.That leads Motherwell to Tannadice this afternoon as they tackle Dundee United, looking to try and get their season back on track.Vice-captain O’Donnell admitted: “I hope I’m wrong, that we go on to win the next five games and there’s no scrap, but I think we’ve been aware for the last couple of months that we’ve been in a scrap.“The boys coming in should have been aware that we need to get safe first, and you can say that’s a negative attitude, but for me it’s realistic.“We haven’t been consistent enough, nor has the rest of the league, really, and we need to make sure we bounce back from what has been a tough run with the new manager.“We want to start his reign off with a good performance, and hopefully that’s topped off with three points.“I think we should have had a point to prove against Celtic, albeit, it’s a tough opponent, and then more so against Ross County in what was a six-pointer – and it obviously didn’t turn out particularly well.“So, we should always have a point to prove, but if you weren’t trying your all previously then there’s bigger questions to be asked about you as a character and a person.“I’m not levelling that at anyone, but your motivation should be we’re going to try and do our best for this manager – as I’m sure we all did for the previous one and
