It's been around three years since the cost of living crisis first took hold in the UK, but shoppers haven't seen the last of big price hikes.
Just this week the most expensive supermarket in our weekly price comparison has hiked the cost of one essential by 13%. It's the sixth consecutive week that Asda has worked out as the dearest of the six main supermarkets for the basket of shopping, which includes includes bread, milk, butter, tea bags, coffee, beans, chicken and mince.
And this week it's even more expensive after its 300g pack of chicken breasts rose from £2.35 to £2.65 - a 13% jump. Morrisons is more expensive, costing £2.65 for 330g, which equates to £2.41 for the 300g. The rise means the overall bill at Asda is up from £12.48 to £12.78, 6% more than you'll pay at the cheapest retailer Aldi, which comes to £12.02.
