More heavy rain is forecast this weekend in Greater Manchester - amid a 'sad, very showery' weather picture across the UK. Some parts of the UK will be hit by thundery showers today (Friday) after a chilly and wet start to the summer.
Met Office forecasters predict the weather will remain gloomy over the weekend, after the UK experienced its coolest first 10 days of June since 2020 due to the jet stream dragging unsettled weather across the UK.
Dan Stroud, a spokesperson for the Met Office, said: "It’s a sad, very showery picture really." In Greater Manchester, heavy showers are forecast from around 9am this morning, with the rain expected to fall on-and-off through the afternoon and into the evening. Temperatures will reach highs of around 15C this afternoon. More rain showers are forecast on Saturday, which is set to be another unsettled day in our region.
