Some mobile networks are to be phased out in order to increase security, the UK Culture Secretary has said. Both 2G and 3G networks will cease under the changes in a bid to free up the spectrum for 5G and any other future network technology.
The move will provide a smoother transition to faster mobile networks, making it easier for new suppliers to enter the market, according to Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries.In an agreement with the UK's major providers, the measures will provide a range of benefits.Networks will be simpler to run as operators will not have to deal with the challenges of running up to four types - 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G.
