'Moana' Live-Action Movie Set Photos: Catherine Laga'aia Films Beach Scene in Hawaii

Moana 2 is now in movie theaters and the live-action Moana movie is currently in production!

We have some of the first photos of newcomer Catherine Laga’aia on set as the title character while filming scenes for the upcoming Moana live-action adaptation. Catherine was seen filming a beach scene on Friday (November 22) in Oahu, Hawaii.

This appears to be the scene at the beginning of the film when Moana is interacting with the ocean as we can see her talking to the water and even being pushed back at one point. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is reprising his role as Maui in the live-action movie and he has already confirmed an interesting detail about the costume he’s wearing for the film.
