Tributes have been left on a beach to 14-year-old boy on a beach close to where his body was found. Daniel Halliday disappeared on Sunday, June 30, after going into the water at Crosby beach in Merseyside.

He had been jumping waves with his older brother before getting into difficulty. A large wave reportedly took them off their feet, and although Daniel's brother tried to save him, he wasn't able to reach his sibling.

A week later, during the evening of July 8, the body of a boy was discovered by HM Coastguard in the River Mersey at New Brighton.

At the time, eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency services presence in New Brighton, including police, the RNLI and HM Coastguard.
