Metrolink driver claims people are being 'hoodwinked' over cleaning of trams - here's what his bosses have to say

Metrolink bosses have moved to address 'concerning accusations', made by a whistleblower, who claimed trams are not being disinfected properly during the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, mayor Andy Burnham warned that passengers on trams and buses may be asked to wear masks to stay safe as an added precaution.

A man, who drives trams in Greater Manchester, contacted the Manchester Evening News over the weekend to raise concerns about health and safety standards.

He said that due to the quick turnaround at terminals, there is not adequate time to clean the inside of the vehicles. The driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "A few weeks ago, when this first started kicking off, they were doing all this cleaning in front of the
