Met Office issues hurricane alert for the UK after summer of heatwaves

The UK is bracing itself for a dramatic shift in weather as the remnants of Hurricane Ernesto are set to batter Britain after a summer of heatwaves.

Initially a category 2 hurricane, Ernesto has been downgraded to a tropical storm but continues to unleash a dangerous storm surge on Bermuda, with the risk of fatal flooding by Saturday morning.The Met Office is keeping a close eye on its path, which is predicted to bring severe weather to the North Atlantic next week.

Heavy wind and rain warnings have been issued starting Wednesday evening, particularly affecting the north and west, while the southeast may experience warmer and drier conditions.
