Forecasters have predicted a return to sunshine and warmer weather following a gruelling period of wet and unsettling. For many this will be welcome news after Greater Manchester saw the wettest July on record.

It was also an especially cool month with a mean temperature across the month of 14.9C, 0.3C below the average for the period 1991-2020.

Now, The Met Office is predicting higher chances of warmer conditions in the coming days with its latest forecast. "What that means for the UK weather is that there is a much higher chance of drier and potentially warmer weather."
