The Met Office has extended its yellow weather warning for thunderstorms today (June 10). The warning initially only covered some areas of Greater Manchester from Manchester to Leigh and the boroughs to the south of the region.
However, within the last hour the thunderstorm warning has been updates to cover all of Greater Manchester. The warning is in place from 2pm until 10.30pm.
Thunderstorms are being forecast for a lot of areas within the region from between 4pm to 7pm with heavy rain and lightning expected. They said that between 30 to 40mm of rain could fall within an hour in areas affected by the warning, with places hit by hail, lightning, and strong winds.
