Mel B says she was called 'p***' by racist bullies and chased home from school

Mel B has opened up about being the target of racist abuse when she was growing up. The Spice Girls singer, 45, is mixed-race and was raised in a predominately white area of Leeds and was aware that other kids saw her as different.

She recalled being chased home from school by them as they called her racial slurs, including "p***" and the n-word. Mel told the Daily Star Online : "It was really when I went to school that I understood the colour of my skin had such an effect on the other kids. "All of a sudden I was called all these names I didn't understand like 'P***', 'Redskin' and obviously the N-word. "I used to get chased home by kids shouting these names at me, so I learnt to run fast.
