deadline.comEXCLUSIVE: Max has taken in for development Your Second Wife, a soapy, erotic thriller series based on Laura Van Den Berg’s short story of the same name, from Your Friends & Neighbors writer-exec producer Jamie Rosengard, Crazy Rich Asians co-writer Adele Lim, Michael Sugar’s Sugar23 and Jessica Rothe‘s (Happy Death Day) Lil’ Situation Productions.
Created by Rosengard, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer, Your Second Wife follows Liana Dunn, an aspiring actress turned high school theater teacher trapped in stasis on Long Island.
Struggling to move on from the death of her sister, Liana cultivates an unconventional double life that proves too intoxicating for her to give up… even when it places her life in imminent danger.
Rothe discovered the short story and brought it to Sugar23 with the idea of developing it for television. Michael Sugar, Ashley Zalta and Margaux Swerdloff executive produce for Sugar23.
