People should be "extremely careful" in the run-up to Christmas if they want to see elderly relatives, the Health Secretary has said.
Matt Hancock stopped short of telling people to self-isolate in the days before Christmas but issued a series of warnings to the public about limiting social contacts over the next 10 days.
Professor Chris Whitty, England's Chief Medical Officer, said the relaxation of the rules would allow the virus to spread and called on people to have a "minimalist" Christmas.
