Mark Webley: Third arrest made after pair appear in court over Hogmanay death

A third person has been arrested over the death of gangster Marc Webley in Edinburgh. Police said a 33-year-old woman was arrested today in connection with incident on Hogmanay.It comes after two people appeared in court earlier on Monday over the killilng of the 38-year-old.

Grant Hunter, 32, and Emma McVie, 25, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with murder, assault to severe injury and the endangerment of life, and attempted murder.

Both made no plea and were committed for further examination and remanded in custody. Hunter and McVie, both from Edinburgh, are expected to make their next court appearance within the next eight days.Convicted gunman Webley was fatally injured outside the Anchor Inn on West Granton Road, Edinburgh, on December 31.Emergency services were called around 11.50pm and the 38-year-old was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead a short time later.A second man, 39, was in hospital in a serious but stable condition.In 2022, Webley was cleared of two attempted murder after being accused of trying to ram a car off the road in Edinburgh.
