Manhunt launched for maniac motorist over alleged Hogmanay murder bid

Cops are on the hunt for a maniac motorist who allegedly tried to mow a man down after mounting the pavement. The victim was left injured after becoming embroiled in the drama in Greenock this afternoon.

The driver mounted the kerb outside the Wing Wah Chinese restaurant. Officers were called to the scene to investigate and it emerged the victim had sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

Part of the street was cordoned off while officers investigated the terrifying incident, which took place in the Inverclyde town's West Blackhall Street at about 1.15pm.

And Police Scotland had confirmed its officers are now investigating the alleged Hogmanay murder bid. A spokesperson said: "Detectives in Greenock are currently.
