Manhunt for suspected terrorist who escaped prison amid Glasgow Airport 'incident'

A massive police manhunt has been launched after a British Army soldier escaped from prison in London this morning. Daniel Abed Khalife, 22, was reported to police after escaping from HMP Wandsworth on Wednesday, September 6.Khalife was on remand awaiting trial in relation to terrorism and Official Secrets Act offences.

Glasgow Airport descended into chaos as Border Force officials carried out enhanced security checks at the busy travel hub.It is understood this is in connection with the escaped prisoner.

Manchester Airport is also facing similar disruption, officials have confirmed. Khalife was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, red and white chequered trousers and brown steel toe cap boots, the Mirror reports.He is of slim build, has short brown hair and is around 6ft 2ins tall.

Khalife has links to the Kingston area. It is believed he most likely remains in the London area at this time, although he may have travelled further afield.Commander Dominic Murphy, Head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command said: “We have a team of officers who are making extensive and urgent enquiries in order to locate and detain Khalife as quickly as possible.
