The busiest road in Manchester city centre will be closed this weekend. Transport bosses have announced that the Mancunian Way will be shut in both directions from 5am on Saturday, September 9 to 7pm on Sunday, September 10.
The closure will mean annual safety and maintenance inspections for the bustling road will be able to take place. Drivers are being warned to expect delays in the city centre as a result of the closure and to plan ahead accordingly.
Peter Boulton, head of highways at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), said: “Whatever your journey, make sure to familiarise yourself with the closure information.
Due to the diversions through the city centre, we expect to see increased congestion which may also impact bus services, particularly those that run close to, or parallel to the Mancunian Way.
