Manchester United transfer target Pau Torres has broken silence on his future amid revived interest in his services. Having endured a disastrous season in the Premier League and other competitions, United appointed Erik ten Hag as their permanent manager and plans are starting to be put in place for their much-needed summer rebuild.

Torres was a concrete target for the club last summer and looks to be on their radar again. Amid simultaneous interest in Ajax starlet Jurrien Timber — who Ten Hag knows well — the Dutchman has also been consulted over Torres before this window opens as United weigh-up a move for the Villarreal star.

Initial talks have been held 12 months on from the Spaniard being considered as an alternative to Raphael Varane. Torres is understood to have a release clause worth around €60million in his agreement and has spoken about his future. Torres said: "I have the peace of mind of being where they want me, where I have a valid contract and a renewal offer.
