Paul Merson has launched a surprising defence of Harry Maguire and told Manchester United how to get the best from their struggling £80million captain.
Despite signing World Cup winner Raphael Varane from Real Madrid last summer, United have been exposed at the back this season and Maguire has come in for heavy criticism.
Many believed Maguire was at fault for goals against Burnley and Southampton and there's been focus on his on-field performances, amid rumours of some kind of power divide between him and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Maguire and interim manager Ralf Rangnick have rubbished those claims during the build-up to Leeds, as has Marcus Rashford. But the 28-year-old England international has been defended by Merson as the ex-Arsenal man moves to pinpoint the root of those problems.
