Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to have his 25 per cent stake in Manchester United ratified before the first team return from the international break.
The INEOS billionaire is set to dish out £1.3billion and reports suggest he will spend an added £245m on infrastructure investment.
Ratcliffe, a lifelong United fan, is due to take over sporting control of the club in a proposition many fans have welcomed.
However, some have vowed to continue protesting against the current owners. It is almost a year since the Glazers announced the club was up for sale and many had hoped that it would signal the start of the end of their time at the club.
