Former United youngster Michael Keane netted a stunning 90th-minute equaliser, cancelling out Harry Kane's earlier penalty, to earn the Toffees a share of the spoils, meaning Spurs failed to start the post-Antonio Conte era with a victory.
A point, however, was still enough to take them above the Reds in the standings and into fourth on goal difference. United, of course, failed to hold onto third place on Sunday afternoon, losing 2-0 to Newcastle United at St James' Park.
That meant the Magpies moved above Erik ten Hag's side and into third, meaning United were the biggest losers over the weekend in the race for a top-four finish.
