Gareth Southgate's Three Lions played Hungary on Thursday night, but Sancho didn't make the bench after picking up the injury.
It was announced on Saturday that Sancho has now been withdrawn from the England squad, which means the 21-year-old will return to Manchester United 's Carrington training ground to continue his rehabilitation - the knock isn't thought to be serious and he's expected to make a quick recovery.
